When you have 8,900 staff across remote places in Africa, Latin America, Asia and Eastern Europe, helping employees learn can be a dramatic challenge. If you are an NGO, relying solely on fundraising, trying to make every dollar count, the solution may be to build your own unified global Learning platform. Population Services International (PSI), a global health organization dedicated to improving the health of people in the developing world, recently shared their story of how they built and launched PSI University at HR Tech World Congress 2015, for the tiny development cost of $45,000, most of it in PSI staff labor costs.
In her presentation, Marie-Laurie Curie, Senior Advisor, Learning and Performance at PSI explained that despite their complex mix of limited budget, staff, learning content and broad geographical base, they still needed to deliver high quality practical content to workers and volunteers in the field. PSI is a global health organization focusing on prevention, education and care in the developing world, in places from Belize to Zimbabwe, Vietnam to places in Eastern Europe.
