The World Health Organization estimates that at least 400 million people worldwide lack access to the most essential health services, and that a global shortage of an estimated 18 million health workers is anticipated by 2030. This, paired with uncertainty and sudden surges in healthcare needs, calls for innovation in sexual and reproductive healthcare and special attention to those most vulnerable. This is where self-care comes in.
Self-care is no longer solely bubble baths or walks in the park. Self-care has transformed from a ritual of a privileged few, to a concept being implemented to serve the healthcare needs of all – particularly those excluded from current health care systems. Emboldened by the 2022 WHO Self-Care Guidelines (that recommend self-care in every country and economic setting), self-care is gaining traction in improving equity of health systems and offering a pathway towards achieving universal health coverage (UHC).
Towards this aim, the Self-Care Trailblazers Group (SCTG) is leading the way in supporting governments, policies and practices that place family planning (FP) options in the hands of consumers.

SELF-CARE SHOWCASE AND RECEPTION
DATE: Wednesday 16 November, 2022
TIME: 7-9PM THA
LOCATION: Orchid Ballroom B, Grand Hotel, Pattaya, Thailand
Self-care is the root of healthcare. It is key to expanding contraceptive access, use and choice and attaining UHC goals. We invite you to join the SCTG and wider self-care community for an evening of inspiration, innovation, and intriguing conversation. This event will explore why self-care is the matter of the hour for FP and broader sexual and reproductive health and rights, especially in the era of COVID-19. SCTG members and partners will showcase their interventions and innovations to advance self-care in an interactive “marketplace” setting. The evening will end with a cocktail reception to encourage networking and collaboration among self-care advocates, experts, and partners from around the globe.
