A quantitative study aiming to understand individual, social and structural factors influencing HIV testing and linkage to treatment or prevention. This study consisted of one-hour interviews with randomly selected men (n=2019, of which n=202 HIV-positive linked and n=67 HIV-positive non-linked) aged 20-34 living in two provinces of South Africa. Findings validated various barriers previously identified during the qualitative research phase, and facilitated identification of different psychographic segments of men in relation to the factors influencing their attitudes and behaviors in accessing or not accessing HIV services.
