By Liz and Aaron Tang, PSI Supporters
Today is Giving Tuesday, a global day dedicated to making a difference in the lives of those who need our help. That’s why we’re challenging all PSI supporters to make a donation that we’ll match dollar for dollar up to $10,000. If you donate by midnight tonight, we’ll match your contribution.
We are firm believers in the important work that PSI does. Living in the U.S., it’s so easy for people to forget how many challenges face families in the developing world—challenges that we take for granted. And if there is one thing that research shows regarding how to make a difference, it is to empower affected communities—and women in particular—to lift themselves out of poverty. That is precisely what PSI does.
Each of us has personal experiences that have led us to support PSI. The most memorable class that Aaron took in college taught him how vital access to family planning services is for ensuring that women have the opportunity to improve their own lives and the lives of their families. And Liz studied the importance of evidence-based approaches to problem solving in business school. Both of those lessons are at the heart of PSI’s work, and are some of the reasons we hope you will join us in supporting them.
We found PSI through world-renowned philosopher Peter Singer, who lists the organization as one of the most effective charities to give to. And we’ve been impressed at how effective they are at helping women – in some of the most challenging places – get the contraception they want when they need it.
We are dedicated donors, which is why we’re challenging all Impact readers to give too. We’re matching all gifts made today to help more women who want contraception get easy access to it.
We’ll match your gift #GivingTuesday!
