Ugandans have been warned to avoid taking malaria medicine without a positive test for the disease.
Speaking recently during the dissemination of results of Uganda’s ACT (Artemisinin-based combination therapy) watch outlet survey, experts warned against treating people for malaria before testing them.
According to Zacch Akinyemi, the executive director of the Programme for Accessible Health Communication and Education (PACE), medication based on clinical diagnosis increases the risk of drug resistance.
