THE government come August, this year, will be getting reinforcement in its battle against cervical cancer when Population Services International starts screening Dar es Salaam residents.
The PSI Child Health Programme Manager, Mr Furaha Kabuye, said that apart from starting to offer these services, they plan to engage employers to assist in screening their employees as well as support the cause as part of their corporate social responsibility.
Cervical cancer is a type of cancer that develops in a woman’s cervix (the entrance to the womb from the vagina). Cancer of the cervix often has no symptoms in its early stages.
