ATLANTA, Feb. 11, 2008 — SITA, the world’s leading service provider of integrated information technology (IT) business solutions and communication services for the air transport industry, today announced a strategic partnership with Population Services International (PSI).
PSI, a global non-profit organization, uses the same market-based approach as private sector companies to increase access to affordable healthy choices for the poor in more than 60 developing countries. PSI and its affiliates employ more than 6,000 staff to apply private sector strategies to the areas of HIV, malaria, reproductive health and child survival (including safe water).
“PSI was looking for more than just a network; we were looking for a reliable and stable partner to support our global financial systems and other applications,” said PSI Chief Financial Officer Douglas Stevens. “The result is a long-term infrastructure project with SITA, implementing IPVPN with IPSec, and we’re looking at other technologies for the future.”
“The SITA team developed a plan that showed they understood PSI’s business needs and translated the technical solution beyond just the network,” said Sandra Girona, SITA vice president of sales and relationship management, North America. “We are excited about the opportunity to help PSI implement its strategy so that they, in turn, can serve more people around the world.”
SITA’s Internet Protocol Security (IPSec) service enables customers to interconnect remote, branch offices and teleworkers to central IT resources using the Internet as transport and IPSec for data security. Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network (IPVPN) is SITA’s managed IP solution, providing scalable, high quality, secure IP access worldwide. The service provides all the flexibility and accessibility of the public Internet without the disadvantages of service quality, end-to-end management and security, and provides a platform for secure internetworking services.
