The buy-one-give-one business model has now expanded to include monthly birth control for women living in poverty.
Afaxys Pharmaceuticals — a division of Charleston, S.C.-based Afaxys Inc., which is led by president and CEO Ronda Dean — announced a partnership Thursday with Project Ruby, an online platform that makes low-cost birth control available to women in the U.S.
They’re calling it the “Take1Give1” initiative, and it fits with the growing trend of companies building socially conscious principles into the DNA of their business models. Consider footwear company Toms Shoes, eyewear giant Warby Parker and even L. Condoms, another female-led contraceptive company featured in Bizwomen last fall.
