Following the updated WHO guidelines published in June 2022, the NMCP organized a workshop with the participation of other stakeholders, including the Family Health Department, EPI, Nutrition, Community Health Workers National Program and Sofala Province Health Directorate Representatives, resulting in the country’s then 4-dose model. In February 2023, the NMCP obtained approval from the Minister of Health to introduce the PMC Strategy in the country, administered at Health Child Consultation (HCC) visits. The NMCP set the initial 4-dose model with the possibility to review and increase the number of doses based on evidence, and as of September 2024 the model has been expanded to and implementation has begun for 5-doses (graphic below).
