Support for International Family Planning and Health Organizations 2 (SIFPO2) was a USAID-funded program to increase access to and use of high-quality, affordable family planning (FP) products and services.
From 2014–2021, in over 30 countries, SIFPO2 strengthened the organizational capacity of multiple partners around the world to deliver high-quality FP and other health services and increase the sustainability of these programs.
SIFPO2 focused on leveraging private sector networks of providers, while also working in partnership with public sector facilities and Ministries of Health to increase the strength of overall markets for critical healthcare products and services.
Led by PSI, SIFPO2 worked in partnership with Results for Development, PharmAccess, the Stanford Program for International Reproductive Education and Services (SPIRES) and the International Center for Research on Women (ICRW), alongside many private and public sector national partners. The results of SIFPO2 are born from the collective efforts of USAID and thousands of partners and people around the world. PSI thanks everyone who made SIFPO2 a success, including the people who in their millions were willing to engage in new and better ways to receive FP and other healthcare.
This final project report features key results from SIFPO2, including progress in:
- Strengthening method choice in FP by bringing new FP products to market and training and supporting a broad cadre of health workers in providing quality Voluntary FP.
- Digital Health innovations that support individuals seeking healthcare, providers, and health system stakeholders to deliver quality FP and other healthcare.
- Pioneering interventions to support youth access to family planning, including strengthened capacities among private providers to support FP information, products and services for adolescents and youth, as well as new innovations in provider-client counseling.
- Advancing locally-led development by supporting fully locally led not-for profit and commercial actors to increase their contributions to the high-quality, affordable family planning, contributions that last long beyond the lifetime of this award.
