As the decade comes to a close, PSI is taking the time to celebrate our impact over the past year. In 2020, we encourage you to join us in celebrating our 50th anniversary by continuing to engage with the stories of learning and success that we enjoy in our work. January
In January we met Grethel, a young woman in Nicaragua who turned her teenage trauma into a career as an advocate.
February
February brought us insights into the female condom market in southern Africa, and what PSI is doing to put the power of woman-controlled contraception in the hands of women who want it.
March
On International Women’s Day, we introduced the #DareToDream dance challenge, and PSIers brought their best moves.
April
Cyclone Idai hit Mozambique in Spring 2019 and created one of the worst natural disasters in the country’s history. PSI COO Judi Heichelheim gave us her first-person account of the PSI Mozambique team’s heroic recovery efforts.
May
At the end of May, PSI released the 25th issue of Impact magazine in anticipation of the Women Deliver conference and celebrated what it means to put the power of healthcare in our clients’ hands.

June
Summer brought us the results of the ECHO trial, which confirmed that there was no link between HIV infection and long-acting reversible contraception, despite long-standing concerns.

In July, PSI joined 150 organizations for the “Thriving Together” commitment, highlighting that access to contraception and the security of a healthy planet Earth are interdependent.

In September, PSI partner The Case for Her won the STHLM Tech Fest Hackathon in Stockholm’s City Hall with their self-help app, Lucy, which gives women and girls the knowledge they need to understand their bodies and their sexual health while breaking down shame and stigma around pleasure.

The PSI-led PMI Impact Malaria project was featured in our blog in October and highlighted how the project is fighting malaria in children during West Africa’s dangerous rainy season.
