Are you looking for best practices in family planning, but are overwhelmed by the avalanche of materials on past programs, successes and failures? There’s a site for that.
In order to provide the very best information on effective family planning service delivery and interventions, High Impact Practices (HIPs) in family planning features research and evidence to help programs focus their efforts and resources to reach the greatest impact. An advisory group of international family planning experts continuously identify best practices based on the magnitude of impact, replicability, scalability, sustainability and cost-effectiveness of a given model. PSI’s programming has been featured by HIPs and the NGO acts as an endorsing organization.
To limit the information overload, HIPs are grouped into two related categories — enabling environment and service delivery. Enabling Environment HIPs have been proven to create a positive environment for family planning programs, at the national or community level. Service delivery HIPs are grouped into proven, promising, and emerging practices, based on the strength and consistency of the evidence-based.
Collaborating partners with identified HIPs programs have developed briefs on evidence, lessons learned and recommendations on implementing similar programs. By tracking HIPs programs and publishing briefs, peers give other organizations opportunities to collaborate and strengthen their own programs through evidence-based approaches.
The video below explains the impact of HIPs in Family Planning. Additionally, check out the HIP Map, tracking identified programs by region and categorization.
