Greenstar Social Marketing, PSI’s Pakistan affiliate, is making huge gains in the Pakistani government. Greenstar’s latest research paper, “Changes in Contraceptive use and the Method Mix in Pakistan: 1990 – 1991 to 2006 – 2007”, notes the decline of modern contraception use among Pakistani women between 1990 and 2007, emphasizing the growing phenomenon of method discontinuation. At the MOH’s latest meeting to discuss new directions in family planning programming, these findings were presented as evidence to increase the MOH’s involvement in the health area; the Ministry of Population Welfare had previously taken ownership of FP programs in Pakistan. Dr. Sohail Agha, PhD, technical advisor for Greenstar, had presented the findings of his research to the MOH last December.
