Tilly Gurman serves as a professor at The George Washington University School of Public Health and with PSI, where she offers expertise in health communication, adolescent health, reproductive health, program evaluation, cultural competency, as well as qualitative and quantitative research methods. Tilly earned her DrPH and MPH from Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. While in Baltimore, she worked on a project to improve health care access for Spanish-speaking pregnant women: her research was used to create cultural competency trainings for hospital staff and a video for patients-in the style of Spanish-language soap operas (telenovelas)-about navigating the health care system. Most recently, Tilly worked in Guatemala for an indigenous women’s non-governmental organization on the evaluation of their teen pregnancy prevention project.
