Dr. Rehana Ahmed’s career has focused on maternal and child health, with a concentration in reproductive health and family planning. After completing training as a medical doctor in Pakistan and the UK, Dr. Rehana managed a clinic funded by the International Planned Parenthood Fund in Pakistan. Under her leadership, the clinic became a center of excellence, well known for both high quality of care and the training of health professionals. Dr. Rehana joined PSI’s Pakistani affiliate, Social Marketing Pakistan, in 1995. She started and managed a nationwide training unit branded Greenstar, which became so well known that Social Marketing Pakistan adopted the name, becoming Greenstar Social Marketing. In 2001, Dr. Rehana was named chief executive officer of Greenstar and managed fundraising development over a five year period. She remains an elected member of the Greenstar Board of Directors. In 2004 Dr. Rehana relocated to Kenya and became a freelance health consultant in maternal and child health and family planning. Currently she is the reproductive health specialist for the UN Millennium Project for East and Southern Africa with funding from the Packard Foundation. She was elected to PSI’s board of director’s in 2006.
